BJU Not Mentioned in Latest SACS Doc
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has just released the Actions Taken by the Board of Trustees as of June 21, 2012. This document catalogs all of the actions that board has done including granting accreditation, revoking accreditation, and the key one for BJU, granting initial candidacy status. And Bob Jones University is not mentioned anywhere in this document.
As I've noted before BJU is likely 5-7 years *at least* from attaining regional accreditation. But that estimate was based on BJU having initial candidacy granted in the very near future. Without even being a candidate for accreditation who knows how long it will be, if ever, before they receive regional accreditation. And you can count on the fact that no current student or incoming freshmen will receive any benefits from that future accreditation.
There was one other thing that I took note of from this document. Bob Jones has been insisting that TRACS changed and that BJU won't be making any changes, including changes to the board and student/faculty governance. I noted that from the SACS "Principles of Education" there were a lot of changes that would need to be implemented. And from this document we see what the consequences of non-compliance are. Take Newberry College, Newberry, South Carolina who were denied reaffirmation, and placed on warning for failure to comply with their Governing Board among other things.
All of this just further shows that BJU seems to be in no position to attain regional accreditation. At least not in the foreseeable future. If Bob Jones III insists that BJU won't be making any changes, including to the board, and BJU isn't even a candidate yet that puts BJU's announcement into crystal clear perspective: They aren't even close to getting regional accreditation.

The term also generally applies to a product that is announced months or years before its release, and for which public development details are lacking.
