Story: Rob Castano
The following is an email submission from Rob Castano. I have posted it exactly as it was submitted.
BJU offers many a career path that other colleges, not to mention Christian colleges, do not. Yes, BJU a Christian college and this, for me, is a must because I want to further my walk with God along with my work skills. At first, I was going to major in Cinema Production and let me say that, on that front, they are one of the top providers of the major (fourth in the country). I visited the college and when I did I was ecstatic for it was like going to school on a movie set, the perfect environment to learn the craft. Not only this but, upon looking at the curriculum, I saw nothing but film classes and bible classes, a perfect curriculum for studying said major.
Now, with that said, I have, since then, switched my major from Cinema Production to Pastoral Studies, and, although my initial visit was to see things pertaining to the Cinema Production major, I saw the seminary in great detail. I have felt a call to be a pastor and BJU has been nothing but severely accommodating to me when I wanted to switch majors. But, as the question is: how do I think that this particular college will help me in my chosen career path, I will say that this college is one of the few that has maintained its Christian/Baptist roots and teaches unadulterated, unadjusted, and pure Bible and Christian doctrine. I revel at hearing this for this is exactly what is needed when bringing up the pastors of the next generation. For those who are called to this will have much to contend with; we need the Bible in its purest form for we will be tested and tried greatly in the days to come. It is because of this that I say that BJU is perfect given the career choice to which I’ve been called.
