Bob Jones III Chapel 12/07/2011

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has just released the Actions Taken by the Board of Trustees as of June 21, 2012. This document catalogs all of the actions that board has done including granting accreditation, revoking accreditation, and the key one for BJU, granting initial candidacy status. And Bob Jones University is not mentioned anywhere in this document. 

Not long ago a blog called thechancerants created a chart outlining faculty salary at Bob Jones University. The data seems pretty conclusive that BJU's pay is right at the bottom when compared to not only other schools, but also other Christian/Fundamentalist schools. It is hard to draw too many conclusions based upon the salary. Really all we know is that the faculty are paid very little.

I know that many people wonder why it would be useful to break down an old document from 1995. The primary reason for doing so is the insistence by Bob Jones III that SACS is the one who has changed, and that Bob Jones University hasn't changed at all.

Not long ago I covered the entire Do Right protest. As part of that coverage I highlighted a story where Bob Jones University tried to censor the student heading up the whole protest. Around that same time Bob Jones University announced that they were seeking regional accreditation.

After making an official announcement regarding BJU's decision to pursue regional accreditation there seems to be a bit of a comedy of errors happening in the administration building. First there was an infamous rant by Bob Jones III where, among other things, he insisted that regional accreditation will not change anything at BJU.

Bob Jones III gave a chapel rant a couple of weeks ago. In that rant he insisted part of SACS requirements for accreditation pre-2001 was to bring a school under their control.

On Wednesday two things happened. First Greenville Online posted an article about BJU's announcement to pursue regional accreditation, and Bob Jones III gave a rant about their pursuit of regional accreditation. Among the many contradictions in Bob Jones III's rant one really stuck out to me.
