After reading the most recent timeline from the Collegian regarding regional accreditation, that got me thinking about other schools that have made similar announcements and where do they stand now?

The Collegian has published a story outlining the progress BJU has made on regional accreditation. 

“How long will the regional accreditation process take for BJU?”

This is a question many have had since it was announced last semester that the University would be applying for accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has just released the Actions Taken by the Board of Trustees as of June 21, 2012. This document catalogs all of the actions that board has done including granting accreditation, revoking accreditation, and the key one for BJU, granting initial candidacy status. And Bob Jones University is not mentioned anywhere in this document. 

This letter was sent in from a concerned mother who wanted me to pass along the letter.

Letter to a High School Senior

Congratulations on your graduation! It's a proud moment when you have accomplished the goal of finishing high school. Your life is ahead of you and you've been making some important decisions like choosing a college, which will have a profound impact on your future.

It is that time of year. Actually you should probably already be planning, but if you aren't  it isn't too late to start planning for grad school. If you are thinking about going to grad school outside of Bob Jones University when you graduate you need to start planning now if you are a senior or junior.

For a masters degree the deadline is typically in December or early January. For Doctorate or PhD the deadline can be earlier. So start your planning.

What do I want to major in?

SFL has been reading my mind the past week. There is yet one last post on our continuing coverage of Christian Education. This is a topic we've covered here before except I covered it with regards to higher education. It is the Myth: The Doctrine of Higher Education.

SFL has put up yet another great post this time about college education. And again it happens deal directly with my next post regarding the Cardus study I just finished reading.

Bob Jones University has come out with some information regarding the class of 2015 (incoming freshmen). Most of the information is pretty obvious including the picture above. What did catch my eye was the top declared majors.

A friend posted this video on FB. Just to be clear I did not create this video and I do not run that corresponding YouTube account. The information in this video is very accurate and very factual. I've covered a lot of the same ground, but sometimes it helps to have videos to reinforce what you've been saying. To the person who runs this YouTube account thank you.

The New York Times is running a piece entitled Many With New College Degree Find The Job Market Humbling. It appears that since the economic decline many graduates have been forced to take jobs at lower pay. The article notes that the average starting salary for a recent graduate dropped from $30,000 to $27,000 citing this survey from Rutgers. The article goes on:
